Hornady has announced a new line of bullets that have a sleek, target profile shape but a light-weight like a varmint bullet. They call them Extremely Low Drag-Varmint/Target (ELD-VT). Hornady promo video HERE

In 6mm, they've got an 80-grain. Hornady website HERE.

These "light for length" bullets seem pretty cool.
I wonder when we'll start seeing ELD-VT ammo & bullets for reloading online or in LGS?

Midway is saying the end of the first full week of November.

We will see, I've heard that song before.
Saw that. Looks interesting, I will try them out when they become available. It will come down to pricing, Varmint bullets need to be economical.
I don't see any spec on velocity, so expecting 2850 from 18". .410 BC is high for that bullet.

2850 should be doable. I get into the 2900s with 87gr VMAX out of a 20" barrel.
Midway USA has the 80gr in stock under Factory Seconds. But at the price there're going for I would not call them a varmint bullet. They're going for just under .50c/ bullet, that is almost double what the VMAX is selling for. I knew Hornady would screw it up somehow.
They also have the Eld-vt bullet, "coming soon," but also same price, $47/100.

Yep, Too much for a varmint bullet.
