RE: Need Help with Hornady Full Length Die - grayfox - 09-09-2021 Whether a brass case chambers or not is more often its length to the datum line, rather than OAL, although OAL can affect you too. You check datum length with the case comparator, SAAMI dimension for this is 1.190 - 0.007. The shoulder bumping up against the chamber is what has stopped a few of my cartridges from loading. Factory loads typically size that even a couple thou below min so they will always chamber in all rifles. RE: Need Help with Hornady Full Length Die - Dino11 - 09-09-2021 Shoulder bump will stop a cartridge from loading if the case is not bumped enough. But a carbon ring will also stop a case from clambering if the neck is to long. Which reminds me I need a new chamber brush.
