Back to 6Arc! - SpeyRod - 09-29-2024

I have been distracted lately due to a new ELR rifle in my life. It’s addictive to shoot targets at a mile! But deer season is upon us so the Arc has been put back into service. I shot it out to 340 yds today only using a 2x4 as a rest. Still puts a big smile on my face as it stacks rounds on target. Even bigger smile when I think about burning 27 gr of powder each shot instead of 88 grains!

If you are on the fence don’t hesitate! It’s a great round!

For me the 6mm ARC is the ultimate multipurpose round …. hunting(deer and varmint), target shooting and self defense!

Preaching to the choir. Yes 6mm Arc is a mighty fine round. When we are talking about deer hunting, The 6mm ARC may be the finest offering to be created. Then think of the wide range of bullets cup & core & monolithic & 6mm ARC can be quite diverse.

This will be the first year I hunt deer with it. I am looking forward to using it. Current plan is to use the 105 Scenar.

On varmints the Arc is A#1!

88 Grains HAHAHAHAHAA, I just did a 50BMG match, my load is 222.5 grains H50BMG, pushing an 800 grain Cutting Edge copper solid. And people wonder why I like 22LR

Ok, I’ll go protect my remaining hearing in my corner. I’ve shot the 50 a couple times. It is why I went smaller. Lol!

But I am interested in building a 2 mile gun so I can load some of those CE bullets.

I've seen a few builds for 375 and 416 using CE bullets, and boy do they fly.

I ended up passing on a nice 3x4 because a friend shot a forky, his first deer, on one of our properties. He never field dressed an animal so I needed to get there to help. The 3x4 stood broadside at 50 yards looking at me while I was on the phone with mu friend. Next year he will be bigger! Plus my son had already tagged a buck and I knew I would tag an elk so the freezer was over capacity. I won’t kill it if my family and neighbors won’t eat it.

Next year perhaps.
