Trying some A-Tips, oh my - dfosland - 01-03-2025 Found a site selling Hornady 110 Gr A-Tips at not stupid expensive prices, just had to wait a month or so to get them. Using their reloading app, and knowing what I had available, loaded up 50 rounds, 25 each with Leverevolution and H4895, with 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Forgot to include barrel length in my edited photos, at 26 inches. All other rifle/load data is in the pics. I think I'll be ordering more of these bullets, if I can get them at similar prices. From what I had today, I'll likely be loading H4895 at 26.4 grains, using a powder throw instead of auto dispenser. RE: Trying some A-Tips, oh my - Dino11 - 01-04-2025 You gotta love those Preferred Barrel Blank barrels, they are awesome. And it looks like you have a pretty good node going their, now you need to load some more up and figure out your bullet jump. I have some 4895 and was going to put it under some 109gn LRHT rounds to try out for Long Range Rifle shooting the mile come spring. RE: Trying some A-Tips, oh my - dfosland - 01-06-2025 Unfortunately, I can't get much closer, they are already almost at max mag length. Going to give these a try at the local 600 yard benchrest event in a couple weeks, just need to sit down and load them up, along with all the other stuff I need to work on... RE: Trying some A-Tips, oh my - Dino11 - 01-06-2025 Food for thought... https://bergerbullets.com/vld-making-shoot/ Secant profiled bullets like to have a little more jump, I load some of them .060 to .080 off the lands with very good results. At first I was loading them to max mag length, but found that jumping them my groups were more consistent and repeatable. I will add that I have no experience with the 110 A Tips. |
