It's cheaper than Midway USA & Brownells... Temped to get some before it disappears again. Would use it for both Grendel & 6mm ARC if I do.

Thanks for the heads up... I placed an order for some, can never have to much in these times. Grendel brass and ammo has been unobtainium for a long time. This stuff is going to go quick. I was actually surprised that they still had any this morning when I placed an order.

Thank you also for the tip. Was hoping to not have to size any Grendel brass but we can't be too picky these days.

What goes into sizing this brass? Just shoving this into the die, and go to town?

RE: Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass - Thelaststraw - 05-12-2021

It's not too difficult in all honesty...I mean if one can grsp handloading rifle cartridges, then it's just another process to add. It also depends on your expectations of the brass and your ammo. For example, target and can blasting, hunting, precision/long range. Same with durability or longevity( how many uses of the brass)

You might get away with just sizing and run it, sometimes, depending on your rifle system. Same with annealing, may or may not be necessary....for you. I'm no expert on this but I have learned a lot here and at the grendel forum(same bunch for the most part).

I'm sure someone more experienced can be of more help and there is a thread on here about that very subject a few pages back. It's not difficult , but can be as complex as you require.

Search threads to verify & enhance info to following.

A little lube will come in handy along with a little tack when pushing the shoulder back.  All lubes are not the same. IMHO Imperial sizing wax or Unique case lube are perhaps more favored for there lubricating quality. You will need some means to measure head space to insure you are pushing the shoulder back enough without going to far.

Then of corse The OAL will need to be trimmed to length. Your choice to weather the trim op is accomplished before or after necking down & pushing the shoulder back.

The trimming is the laborious part. You develop a deep personal bond with each piece of brass as you trim off 0.03".

The good news is that once you do it, routine trimming of any brass back to trim to length seems much less tedious than it used to!

RE: Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass - LaMan - 05-13-2021

I have resized 75 Starline Grendel brass with a standard Lee full length sizing die.  Imperial lube and a co-ax press worked to perfection.  The real issue is sneaking up on the correct base to shoulder length which was accomplished by starting at a known too long length, than continuing to shorten while testing in the rifle until the case just chambered easily.
Trimming was a piece of cake with a powered Wilson trimmer.

After 4 firing the brass looks good, expect for the one's by extractor mauled.

Went ahead & ordered the 250 piece bag-o-Grendel brass. UPS tracking says it's out for delivery by 7PM today. Smile

RE: Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass - Old Bob - 05-14-2021

Received the Starline 6.5 Grendel brass... three cases short! I was wondering, does Starline bag up their brass or does the vendor bag it up from bulk stock? I'll email Arm or Ally & ask them.

The brass is really nice... seems a bit heavier than Hornady Grendel brass & perhaps a little harder than Lapua Grendel brass. I found some cases with dented case mouths but that doesn't really matter much, 'cause I'll run the brass through my sizing dies anyway. Case lengths run from 1.508" to 1.511". In the new Hornady reloading manual it says trim-to length is 1.510". So, some of this brass is a hair short but it's close enough... not gonna fret over that.

Now, how many do I use for my Grendel & how many do I use for my 6mm ARC? Confused

RE: Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass - gorillamotors - 08-29-2021

I bought 500 starline brass about a month ago from them. Lubed them and resized them to 6ARC . I trimmed them to length with my Giraud Power Trimmer. Yes it was expensive ($495) but it saves on fingers and time. I have used it on 10-15000 308, 6.5 creedmoor, and 338 federal cases. Would not go back to the old way.

BRownells has 6.5 starline grendle brass.
Use ammoseek to your advantage. It's your find-stuff bot par excellance.

RE: Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass - r.tenorio671 - 09-24-2021

FWIW, I used new Starline 6.5G brass to convert to 6ARC, had no choice really, due lack of availability. I used my Hornady Custom dies to do the conversion and encountered no issues. Also, note that I left the expander ball (& decapping pin) in the die when I did the resizing. I also did a test of sizing straight from the bag and some I annealed before sizing. Both will work, but the pre-annealed were more consistent, less force on handle and less (if any) springback occurring. The shoulders also "look" more defined. Used an EP 2.0 annealing system. Trimmed afterwards on Forester Classic. Because I use a Lee Loadmaster progressive, the conversions were quick once the case feed tubes were filled (approximately 13 cases per tube, 4 tubes). The lube I use is a self-concocted, 91% alcohol & Lanonlin mix @1:10 ratio. When setting up the die all adjustments necessary, I used Imperial wax.
