Barnes 105 Match Burners - StoneHendge - 12-16-2021 PV has these in 500 count boxes that were $150 to my doorstep (30¢ per) which isn't too bad considering the dearth of heavier 6mm bullets in the market these days. G1 is somewhat pedestrian at .511 (no G7) but the 6.5mm 120s exceeded my expectations and got slightly below MOA without much load workup. Should be fine for a practice round out to 600. Plan is to work them up with A2495. I might even bump down some 2-3x Hornady brass I converted to 243 LBC since I have more than I'll ever use. Also looking for results with Sierra 95gn and 107gn Match King series, the non-tipped ones. Thanks in advance. RE: Barnes 105 Match Burners - StoneHendge - 01-25-2022 They showed promise with my last few ounces of AR Comp here: https://6mmarc.com/showthread.php?tid=507 That was really more of a test to see what sort of velocity AR Comp could give and since it was the last of it, there was no follow up to see if the accuracy "nodes" were repeatable. I tried them with TAC and my SDs were absolutely horrible. I don't even remember if there was anything resembling accuracy. I then tried them with A2495. I had a converted Hornady Grendel case fail on me on the second shot - the case head literally got ripped off during extraction. Needless to say I aborted the rest of that test and haven't followed up on with them since I've lost trust in the Hornady brass and given the way my primer pockets are fading on my converted Starline brass, I don't want to go there either. I used to use 95 gr SMK/TMKs in a match load with Varget at around 2650 in my 8 twist 18" 243 LBC. Extremely accurate to a few hundred yards, but dispersion increased dramatically around 500 yards and some would crap out so much past 600 that they'd dissapear. I was very happy with the price I received on gunbroker for my stash. I wouldn't get to enamoured with them - I'd be willing to wager that Sierra hasn't made any since summer 2020. |
