55 GR Hammer Hunter - CZ527 Guy - 05-30-2023

Started playing with the 55 gr Hammer this evening at the range. Only tried 3 rounds over A2200 Rem 7.5 primers.

ES was nothing to write home about with 3450, 3439 & 3470. Group size suggested this load was worth attempting to improve on with seating depth or a crimp & or a primer. 1st & second rounds were nearly stacked w a group of .1ish & the 3rd round opened up to .3ish. Most promising accuracy I have seen yet from this rifleSmile

Last time out inspired me to get out shooting more with the results seen above. That 3 shot group was shot with a Magneto speed attached. Today I tried a 5 shot group with nothing attached to the barrel. Accuracy went from great to good. Todays 5 shot group over the same primer & 29 grains of Accurate 2200 powder grouped roughly .710".

It still shows promise from a small sample and an ES of 30 is acceptable.
I don't give group size much weight when I have a magnetospeed strapped to the barrel. I use one when starting load development just to get an idea of velocity, a flat spot in velocity and an indication of where it starts to peek with a small increase in charge increasing a lot in velocity or wild ES. After that I only use group size to test different charge weights and seating depth. Smallest group wins, not smallest SD or ES. Maybe someday I'll have a radar. Smile

IMR 4198 is the propellant I am really wanting to try behind this bullet in the ARC. Only data that I am finding that comes close to supporting the IMR 4198 is Noslers 6 PPC data. Looking like the 6 PPC American has roughly 10% less case capacity.

Anyone here have an app that could spit out some numbers to compare to. I am thinking a more standard bullet like a 55 grain Ballistic tip or the 58 grain V-max may be a somewhat similar bullet to compare to.

Thank you, ahead of time!

I was mistaken H4198 is the propellant I have been wanting to try under this projectile. Did latter test today & accuracy test to follow tomorrow. Lets just say I am feeling optimistic with data gathered thus far.
