Forster Coax press

Is anyone using the Forster Coax press to load 6 ARC? I finally got one, after 20 years of wanting it, but it looks like the available free floating jaws won’t fit the 6 ARC case rim. I haven’t set mine up to try it yet, but just reading the instructions, it looks like I’ll have to buy an adaptor to use a standard shell holder.

According to Forster, the "S" (Standard) Shell Holder Jaws are for the 6.5 Grendel (same head/rim size as the 6 ARC). The table on page 2 says to use the small end of the shell holder. Looking at the dimensions of the rim diameter (~.440") of the 6 ARC & Grendel cases (7.62x39 too), I don't see how that's possible. I'm wondering, what are the measurements of the jaw openings? Are they the max/min rim diameters of the cases they're intended to hold or are they the case extractor groove diameters (~.370")? If the dimensions are extractor groove diameters, they could work for 6 ARC but with the small end of the "LS" jaws.

Thanks Bob. I’ll look in to it further today, and post what I find.
If the max/min dimension refers to the extractor groove size, the small side of the standard jaws might work.

I loaded 223 and 308 years ago on a friend’s Coax press, with very good results. I should have bought one back then when they sold for around $200. I got this one from Brownells recently for $365, which was well below other advertised prices I had seen when almost no one had them in stock.

Much ado about nothing, apparently. I haven’t tried working any brass yet, but a loaded round fits into the small side of the standard jaws.
I’ll update when I get to the full process.

Loaded first 20 rounds of ARC on my COAX yesterday works fine best press on the market.

I don't disaree with you, but I'll drop a plug for the near blatent ripoff Frankford Arsenal M Press. What I like most about this press is it's available for half the price of the Coax. It sits above the bench, so that provides greater flexibility in mounting. But most important of all...it was available when I needed it, while the Forster is only just now returning to market after being rarer than primers for a time.

What sucks is the need for proprietary (read more costly) die blocks, versus Forster or Hornady die lock rings.

It also has no provision for on the press priming, which doesn't matter to me as I generally use my FA Perfect Prime hand tool.

However, despite my delight with the Frankford Arsenal press, I do look longingly at ads for the Forster.

Run out is greatly reduced when everything floats. Only problem I have encountered with the coax is after thousands of rounds the pin that spreads the jaws at the bottom of the stroke got rough, had to chuck it in a drill and re profile. Get rid of the primer catcher jar and run a hose to a bucket and the problem goes away. My nephew broke a set of jaws trying to size cases without lube.
