Preferred propellants for the 6mm Arc?
#1
For me I am thinking 80 to 90 grain all copper bullets. For standard cup & core bullets the 100 grain offerings up to 108 grain hunting bullets are what is on my plate. While I favor bolt action 6mm ARC applications, lets hear thoughts on preferred propellants for both bolt action & semi auto applications.

One powder I have heard very little about that I have been expecting more from would be Accurate 2520. Personally I have shied away from 2520 due to limited supply. Really like to hear about your experiences with this & other propellants with hunting bullets.

Gas gun with 22" barrel 105-109 gr bullets
Varget. A little slower than Lever but better and more consistant groups.
Lever is good for velocity and decent groups.
AR-Comp was not good in my gun.

Have to try some of my Varget. Looks like I can get around 28 grs in case before too much compression. That might push a 100-105 gr bullet to useable velocities. Also have some H4895 that might do decent with some 80 btsp s I have.

Anyone played with H4895 by chance. Pls share if you have !

With the 87 grain Absolute Hammer last fall, the propellant I settled on was IMR 8208 XBR. Expect other powders may have done well also though the temp stability of the IMR 8208 would be hard to beat.

Fore more conventional copper bullet configurations, I do not feel 8208 would be anywhere near optimal.

Here are a Couple I have had luck with in my AR- 6 ARC
26.6 gr of Vihti vouri N 140 With a 90 gr Berger shot .548 100 yds. 2 5/8" at 300
25.9 gr TAC 108 Horn eld shot .460 100 yds
Still testing!
