Welcome aboard gman! I was Navy also back in the 70's - but the "rifles" we carried were 6 ft in diameter! (icbm's) lol. Not too bad of accuracy for 2500 miles!! minute of battlefield...
If you look at the 108-110 Hornady data - which data like that is typically based on the higher weight of the 2 - you will have something to go on. Lever probably your best bet. Expect about 20 ft/sec less than the 110 might show for a particular load (adjusting for 18" barrel in gas, or 24" in bolt). There's data for both AR style and bolt.
Run a ladder from low to high and see what you get.
