Meet the newest member of the family!

Still waiting on a couple of parts for the lower, but with the arrival of the barrel yesterday I couldn't resist any longer.

It's a Anderson upper, forward assist and dust cover parts are AR15 discount's NBS, 20" CMMG SBN barrel, Tri-fecta QD flash hider, Black Rilfle Parts bolt and the bolt carrier can't remember (old age i guess).  The optic is a Nikon 3-9x50 prostaff in Nikon P22 mounts.

Right now its hung on a bushy lower with RA-140 trigger and ambi safety, but it gets me shooting!

PP I’m going to the range on Wednesday (7-15-20), if no one gets it done before then, then I guess I will be the first to take the plunge. Right now my plan for the range is a limited barrel break in (10 rounds) and zeroing, 2 10 round strings through the chrono for a baseline on the 105’s. Final zeroing if needed then fun and collection of once fired brass for 30 rounds.

I will report back after the range! I’ve got my smile on but generally the best laid plans don’t survive first contact with the enemy.

I'm slobbering over my keyboard right now. Great looking build.
I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong...

That sounds like a plan Trashy

I will look to you as a first hand account on accuracy at 100 and 200 yards with the CMMG barrel. (When the time is right)

It’s very hard to read the tea leaves of the 3-4 social media reporters who are using the CMMG rifles , they’re going straight out to long distances , some are struggling a bit and calling wind as the issue.

Need some 100 yard reports on these new barrel offerings.

Best of luck Wednesday

Thank you, looks to me like most if not all are using loaners from CMMG so they are trying to drink the cool-aid so to speak and it’s easy to prove their point on steel at range. Big difference between 12” plate at 400 and a 1” dot at 100, don’t care what anybody says.

First I gotta say, the rifle shoots better than I do, it was one of those first or last shot flyer days all day.  There were no malfunctions at all with the rifle or magazines.  To put it politely the wind sucked, it was a solid 18-21 mph from 8 o'clock until it started gusting 14-22 from 8 o'clock according to the weatherbug app. Mr. Murphy stayed at home so it was a good day at the range (other than the wind).

Best groups of the day

Worst groups of the day

This is the second chronograph string shot 5 on each target, I either got in a hurry or barrel heating was showing up

First impressions for me is that it has alot of promise, shoots soft and the rifle ran great.  I got all the parts for the lower last night and assembled it last night.  I put the economy version of the Timney trigger in it and that thing is going to have to go, its way stiffer than 4 pounds.  Going to swap it out for a Velocity 3 lb.

I included that photo of the brass, all the primers are flat (no rounded edges). There are also some that have what looks to me like ejector swipes. Second opinions?

Nice velocity for a 20”

Good groups for it being windy

And now you have that much desired and hard to find BRASS for reloading !!!!

Green with envy over here.

Murphy showed up at my range so yeah you were safe from a visit

Sorry to hear that, what did he stick his fingers into at your range?

The chamber of a 30 Remington AR - seems it wanted to keep the cases in it instead of handing them off to the extractor.

And a previously known to function well Grendel that I was zeroing a scope on decides to double feed and malfunction with two separate magazines.

Maybe the rifles are heat sensitive - it was only 100 degrees out ...

Damn Murphy, move on - - -

Dang, Mr. Murphy can be a PITA! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it’s humidity causing all that stickiness.

On a lighter note I just got the shipping tracking number from sportsman’s outdoor superstore for several more boxes of 105 grain arc rounds, now just have to find some Hodgdon LVR.

Nice!

Been thinking about a CMMG barrel but I'm still a little fuzzy on whether or not a + length gas system is required for the 6mm ARC or not.

I've got everything else I need sitting around from Grendel builds.

ETA: I'm surprised by the SD and extreme spread of that ammo. Not too impressive.

The swipes could be from timing. Do you have an AGB?  If so, turn it off and see if the swipes go away.

Trashy I've watched 3 or 4 CMMG reviews and you did better than most. It seems that between 1 and 1.75 moa or so is average with the factory loads so far, it makes me wonder if the factory loads need a bit of tweaking.
