Factory ammo

I think it’s incredibly ignorant for Hornady not to differentiate between ammo, very annoying !! So I have some 108 gr in a mag and 103 in another . There is no way to tell the difference, unless u weigh them . Why not use different color tips or something!!!

I share your frustration and I posed this exact question to Hornady.

They said they use red tips and other companies use other colors so each company’s bullets are distinguishable from another company’s bullets.

I have taken to using painter’s or masking tape on the magazines and writing what ammo is in them, even on my 5.56 magazines. I have thought about using different color sharpie markers and putting a mark on the cases.

6.5 Grendel, the polymere tips are different colors . So telling them apart is easier

Off topic... but... I wonder why Hornady doesn't make a 6.5mm 120gr range ELD-X bullet. They have a 123gr ELD-M. Seems like it would be an easy step to make a 123gr ELD-X as well. I'd think it would be a no brainer for the 6.5 Grendel. While they're at it, a 100gr 6.5mm ELD-X would be another good bullet for the Grendel... Oh well...

I totally agree with u as there are not that many factory options for either caliber (expanding) I’m not against handloading , I would just rather spend my time doing other stuff and b able to buy reliable factory ammo . In the last year and a half, they have made it almost impossible to find tho !
