ELD-VT 80Gr Test
#1
When I moved a box, I found 2500 CCI450 primers, and totally forgot I had them, so happy, and I had to use them.
I also have a few pounds (12 lbs actually) of Alliant Power Pro Varmint, and found on the Hornady App a load for their 80gr CX, max load 31gr
I do like that powder, an easy to meter and charge powder, and I really hope Alliant has NOT discontinued it like Midway indicates.
So, I loaded up 30 rounds, 5 shots per charge, .3gr increments from 29.5gr to 31gr, and 31gr was getting close to compression if it wasn't touching.

I'll let the image with the info speak for how it did, overall, I'm happy with it, and will likely do my next run from 30.0 to 30.5 at .1gr increments.

What’s your barrel length? You be got lots of velocity there. Not far from a 243 Win !!

FWIW, I am getting 2,940 with 87gr vmax’s over LVR in a 20” gas gun. I haven’t loaded with his powder but the speed from a bolt gun doesn’t surprise me.

26" 1:7 from Preferred Barrel Blanks, thus far, I'm really happy with it.

Nice. I've tried it but got a little better results from LVR. I don't think it's quite as popular because of temp stability, but that could be more of a rumor.

Second set of data/test for the ELD-VT with the Alliant Power Pro Varmint 30.0 to 30.5 grain loads, about 10 degrees cooler than the previous outing, but overall, similar results.  Right now, getting better SD at the slightly lower charge, but better groups at the upper charge.  Next time, I'll be doing same loads across the strings, and seeing what happens as the barrel warms up.  If the pattern holds, it shoots better warm than it does cold.

I "think" I put enough information into the picture, regardless, any questions or suggestions (besides LVR, because i don't have any right now), don't hesitate.
