87vmax, 105 eld match & 107 smk
#1
Finally got things together to start work ups with these bullets. Starting with LVR just because. The Berger’s and SMK’s ogive length to lands are very close to each other right at 1.170. The 87 vmax’s are ridiculously short at 1.155. So much so that the load is pretty heavily compressed at the top end.

I am also seeing what people are talking about with the Hornady case volume. Noticeably different even case to case. We will see what the data shows.

My new Garmin Xero landed today. I shot over one last weekend and will never go back. What a fantastic tool!

Results to follow.

Good to hear.
I shot some of those 107 SMKs not long ago, have to dig up my results (I have a Bu-u-unch of them for my 6 CM), did pretty well I thought.
Right now dialing in some 95 Smk's and bergers in my 20.

6Arc workup w/Lvr.

Best of:

87 Vmax Load 2
2,914fps, 12.0 sd

Berger 105 eld match load 2
2,631.6 fps, 3.9 sd

The target with 107 SMK’s on right. That load needs some work.

Love this Garmin Xero. Almost idiot proof.

I hope you were shooting at the target and not the fly.

No flies were harmed in the testing of this ammo.

The Vmax isn’t as tight as suggested by the target above but it is definitely a good squirrel load to @ 400. I’ll be testing it in the field asap. At 2,940 fps it should get the job done.

I ran the 87 Vmax on the Xero with LVR in my 22" Cobalt and really did not see anything that stood out . With my 16" CMMG upper I found 30gr @2600 with a 1.6sd but have not put it to paper yet. Coincidentally, that same 30gr charge is what I run in the 20" Cobalt with the 90 ELDX at 2860 with 4.5sd.

Love the Xero too. I just wish it had app control so a person did not have to handle it to make changes and push a bunch of buttons to get a new session set up. Could also use more internal memory.

Agreed on the in app controls for the Garmin. They would be great. But it is so far beyond every crony I have used to date I am pumped to be using it.

The 107smk’s over LVR sucked. Decided to try them over Varget. Velocities aren’t great but you can’t argue with the accuracy. This group is 10 charge weights 24-25.8.

This’ll work.

Also ran a couple 87 vmax’s over the crony and they were right on at 2,943 fps and zero was perfect.

Which primer did you use?
from a fortune cookie, "The raindrop does not blame itself for the flood"

from a coworker, "You are testing the limits of my medication"

Four loads in 6 arc at 600. Variable wind 3-8mph from the left with rain. Best was 107smk over cfe223. Best velocity as well.
