New build gas questions

Hello everyone I just built a gas gun with a 20” tactical kinetics barrel and an adjustable gas block. It also had a mill spec 3oz buffer and spring. During the initial test shots the gun cycled just fine with the gas almost all the way down. The brass was ejecting about 4 to 5 o’clock but more word 5. On the last round the bolt did not lock back. After adjusting the gas block basically almost all the way open I finally got it to lock back but only on a Duramag it would not lock on an ASC mag. Any ideas of what I can try? I thought it was under gases but the ejection pattern never changed the whole time I was adjusting the gas block.

Verify the gas block and gas port are in alignment, if so, run it wet.

If it is truly undergassed with your existing setup (assuming carbine tube/spring/buffer), increasing the gas port size or switching to lighterweight BCG are options.
