I've owned and shot AR15s for 30 years now, I have 4 uppers, .223, .450B and 6ARC, (the newest build and the subject of this post). I built this upper a few weeks ago and I'm 150 rounds into it. No feeding issues at all. Today I'm 18 rounds into a 30 round 1/4 mile match, (which I am winning handily), and I get three jambs in a row. Nothing that I have ever seen before in any chambering. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? The cartridge is jammed 1/2" out of battery and looks like it was wedged into the chamber at an angle? The first two I ws feeding from a Bobsled, figuring that was the issue, (it was a .223 bobsled, not specific to the 6ARC), I loaded 10 in a duramag and the second round did the same thing. I pulled the bolt between each jamb and did not see any obvious issue. The only change I made prior was to put in a new recoil spring the day before the match, and I shot 40 rounds with the new spring before these jambs. Look at the pics and help me out here if you've ever seen this before
Both show up on Hornady reloading as the only 2 that will go 2850 at Max. I read about 2520 on their site , supposed to be a little slower and better for longer barrels.
LR seems to be real popular for 6arc and shorter barrels.
My question
What is considered a longer barrel ?
Anyone used the 2520 and how did it work for you ? Anyone use both and can give a comparison ?
First test was to adjust the Seekins adjustable gas block.
I followed direction from Seekins: start with adjustment screw 1 turn off all the way in. Shoot 1 round only in magazine. Repeat until rifle will lock back on empty magazine…..
1st shot didn’t eject
Adjusted 1/2 turn
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th wouldn’t eject each with additional 1/2 turn.
6th through 12 ejected but still not enough to lock back……ran out of adjustment.
I’m running a rifle length buffer tube, spring and rifle buffer 5.4 oz
Has anyone tried the Match Monster 107 grain bullets from Midsouth? They look like both the Sierra and the Nosler 107s, and I've heard that Midsouth uses Nosler bullets for the Match Monster line, but I have no confirmation of that.
I bought a tester bag of 25 ($8.00) and am debating whether they'd make a better test in the 6mmARC or the 6mmBR.
For sale; a Savage AXIS ll in 6mm arc. I brought this rifle new this past December, it has just over 100 rd. though it. It shoots great with handloads of CFE 223 & 108gr Berger Elite. And i have a couple of other loads that it was in the process of working up that shown a lot of promise. I love the 6 arc, and decided to move to more of a heavier target style set up in the 6mm arc. Asking $350 for the gun and the 20 moa picatinny rail. And the buyer covers the shipping. Also i have a Trijicon Tenmile 6-24x50 ILL that was brought last December as well thats for sale as its is on the rifle now. The gun is in great shape without a spot on it. Pictures can be send to an email or texted upon request. Again nothing wrong with the rifle, I just liked the caliber so much im going to build me a heavier target set up. I have no sales on this site but you can check me out on Longrangehunting.com with the user name LBEdgin.
Thanks
The last part of my 6mm ARC build is the chassis and I have narrowed it down to the KRG Bravo or the MDT XRS Chassis System. While searching for different options I came across the S2 Delta chassis. The price point is very similar to the Bravo and XRS and wondering if anyone has seen this chassis or using one. What do you guy think?
Thought Id share some recent reloading experience.
Ive previously loaded up 90gr BT and used em on deer successfully however a propety Ive been thermalling has been producing mountain boars around the 250-280lbs with some more than 300lbs seen.
I managed to grabbed 5bx of the 95gr BT on sale last week and apparently have they heavier jacket from the 100gr BT. Anyway top load of 31.8gr produced 3017fps and some very nice accuracy.
WIll be testing on hogs over the rest of the year, I post a few pics if anyone is interested in how they perform.
