Sorry getting a bit impatient waiting on a barrel for  the CZ 527 bolt action. Like doing this kind of thing converting 220 Russian by fire forming to 6mm arc. Primary question I am looking at is what to plan for when fire forming. Does the case over all length OAL become somewhat shorter when blowing out & establishing the new shoulder?

 IF so how much change in the OAL shall I plan for when fireforming? May see the new barrel in the coming 5 weeks though I am prepared for more like 9 weeks.

If a Savage bolt action was available I think I may pick one up just for fire forming & who knows I may even like it.

Finally found the time to put the rest of the rifle around my S&D Monster ARC barrel.  Have only shot it with Hornady 108 gr ELD-M, it showed some promise for a new barrel with the groups hovering just over 1 inch at 100 yards.  I have high hopes that its going to love either the 90 gr or 103 gr ELD-X bullets, the 90's are easier to find but I believe I could live with the 103's doing over 2700 fps and consistently at or under 1 inch and be a happy camper!

Saturday is a match day - it starts at 7am Mountain STANDARD Time and I usually get home around 1pm and promptly take a nap. So it may take me a while if you express interest in Saturday.

Got the Monster 12” built. BCM upper, Coda Evolution hand guard, Detroit Gun Works lower w/ Geissele SD-E (flat bow) and STR stock, SiCo Omega hanging on the end of the barrel, Leupold 1.5-4 VX-R scope, Odin tunable gas block open about one turn. 

The barrel looks great. It mounted into my BCM with very little heat needed where most other barrels in BCMs need to be heated a bit. I tried it on three BCMs and all were the same. I could have whapped it with a mallet to seat it, but did the heat anyway. The threads were a bit rough but seem to be smoothing out with a few runs on-off with a thread protector and the SiCo can.

At the range, I fired a few shots to get on target (it was already there pretty much, thank you laser bore sighter!), then I shot two five shot groups at 100yds. Flawless cycling, and probably can be tuned down a bit more, but my hex wrench was too short. (Yeah, I know, I opened the door for ‘tool is too short’ jokes.)

All in all, I am happy. I might swap a better scope onto it and shoot for some serious groups. My 20” Odin is averaging .75moa with a Trijicon 4-16x.
