Just completed 3 different powder ladders for my Bolt ARC using the Hornady 87gr VMAX.
1st ladder is with Benchmark and run 25.5, 26.0, 26.5, 27.0, 27.5
2nd ladder is A2460; 25.5, 26.0, 26.5, 27.0, 27.5
3rd ladder is TAC; 27.5, 28.0, 28.5, 29.0, 29.5
Seating BTO on all 1.730" using a Hornady comparator.

Howa Barrelled Actions |

Did anyone else notice that Brownells had a 6arc 20" carbon barreled action listed? I say did, because it was on the website one day listed as out of stock and gone the next. I signed up for a notification as I might be interested. I have to say I am disappointed in the budget 6arc bolt gun options as I would prefer a 24" barrel. I don't have the funds to rebarrel a new rifle or action. Question for those with the 22" 6arc barreled action. Seems like a fairly slender profile. Does it make a reasonably accurate rifle. Close to 1 moa 5 shot groups with factory ammo?

Im interested in buying a titanium comp for my 6mm ARC. But i would like to blacken it. There are a few videos that show the process of blackening titanium which involve heating the device with a propane torch. Will that have any negative affects on the comp or affect accuracy?
Thanks

First handloads for the 20" Howa are in reformed Starline 6.5 Grendel brass, F205 primers, Hornady 75gr VMax with Benchmark. I used Forster dies, but had to take several thousandths off the top of the shell holder so that the cases would chamber easily. They will not go in my Faxon barrel!
Hornady lists 2.095" OAL, but I seemed to touch at 2.15" so loaded just shorter at 2.135". Powder charges were thrown through a Redding BR measure and NOT weighed. I started at Hornady's midlevel gas gun data 27.5gr, 28.0, 28.5, and 29.0 where 28.7 is the top of their gas gun data, but 29.5 is top for the boltgun.
The little Howa has had 50 rounds of Hornady Black through it, and seems to do fine for a hunting rifle. The scope provided is a scope, but not the clarity that my eyes need, so will be remedied shortly. From a clean barrel, 27.5gr shot right at MOA at 100 yards. It was misty, and the scope and my choice of target for the day didn't help. 28.0 went 3/4 MOA, 28.5 went MOA all for 5 shot groups. The conditions worsened, and I chose to pack up rather than get wet with the increasing mist blowing in. Primers look mild at 28.5gr. I'll load more, use different targets, and mount a different scope by this weekend.

I was all set to order a Howa mini barreled action from Brownells until I found out the twist rate is 1:8. Maybe that would be adequate for what I want to load, but I really want 1:7.5. I was able to handle a Savage 110 Switchback (6.5CR) at Sportsmans. I was pretty impressed. 22" 1:7.5 medium weight threaded barrel for the 6ARC. I have never owned a savage. Stock may be good enough that I don't feel the need to replace it right away. The hard part will be getting one. Can't order one at this time, seem to be in very limited quantities. In the meantime I have the dies and all the reloading components I need. Just received 500 rounds of brass from Starline.

Just received 500 rounds of starline brass. Was 6 weeks from when I started watching before I could back order. Another 5 weeks to receive it. Now have the dies and all the components. Still need a rifle, waiting on a Savage 110 switchback from Sportsmans.

Mine just arrived today and looking forward to shooting it and seeing what it does.
My Burris scope won't fit the rail is too long and my Athlon Argos 8-34X56 is going to need the rings completely readjusted.. As they are now they do not match the rail.
As also expected this stock is junk. Though as soon as we are finished with our winter rifle league I can swap the Boyd's At-One on my Model 11.
