Has anyone tried this in ARC yet? It keeps on popping up out there. Been in and out of PV, MidSouth, Larry's, etc (as well as Hodgdon's site) for over a month. The Canadians must be working overtime while the Aussies slack. I've been using it with success for 75s in my 5.56 pin & weld (or at least as successfully as one could hope for with a 21 oz pencil barrel with a red dot) and am probably going to try it with 69s for another barrel next.. Supposed to be a stick version of 2520, although it falls between 2460 and 2520 on the charts and is just a tad slower than XBR and H4895. Seems like it should work well for 80s to 100s. I'll probably end up trying it in x39 brass, but need to work my way through what's left of a jug of XBR with 80s first to clear up shelf space. Just wondering if anyone's tried it or given it a thought.
I have a 20" Monster barrel with a Superlative Arms gas block. Is it normal for a little gas to leak by where the gas tube comes out? It's not a large amount, a thin line at about 2 o'clock from the rear POV, and maybe a 1/4" long.
My only experience is with 300BLK pistols and I don't think they generate anywhere near the pressure this does (even with the supers) so it's not really a fair comparison. That and the barrels and gas blocks are both black but even rubbing a finger on them doesn't catch any gas residue. I had some gas issues after I first built the 6ARC and double checked alignment and pin, all seems to be centered and lined up right. Is this a normal thing to have some leakage? I have been running unsuppressed in restricted mode rather than blowby/bypass mode. Would bypassing help with the leakage at the gas tube-gas block interface?
PV has 65 G brass priced by the 50 ct. I just ordered 100 for 62.92 shipped. Yep kinda high but with the outlook of 6MM ARC brass being WAY down the pike plus in the 50.00 range for 50 this buy was a no brainer IMO.
Don't know why they would have done a middie, but I'm personally happy to see another top tier barrel maker make a middie since GiGi's restricted to one with her mono upper and the profile is much beefier than the 16" Lilja. Need to shoot out my BHW 243 first and it's got to around 3k by now and is still going strong. I can't order now - future replacement barrels tend to grow rifles around them in my house.
New here, but reloading for a while. Just did some preliminary testing of the McGowen 24" with Barnes 105gr Match Burners over 28.3/28.6(2780fps avg/28.9 gr(2813fps avg) of LVR. Each grouped rather well, but was not concerned as this was for testing was for low SD with the last two being single digits. Now comes the seating depth(these were .015" off the lands) to get the groups as small as possible. What kind of velocities are y'all seeing with 105s? Just curious. Have a great safe day out there.
I bought this to shoot until my Proof Research barrel came in. Put it together, zeroed with 5 rounds and shot one 3 round group all with Hornady 108gr ELD-M. Haven't shot it since and now the Proof barrel is here.
$270 shipped. No trades at this time.
I can do DISCREET PayPal F&F, PayPal G&S(plus 3.5%), Venmo, or USPS MO.
I know it's a day early but my son gave me my Fathers day present last night.
I have been wanting one of the Rock Island BBR 45ACP pistols since they were anounced to release the end of 2019. These things are made out of unobtainimum, you just can't find them for sale. I had tried for a long time to get one but finally gave up. Well my son found one and purchased it to give to me for Fathers day.
This one checks all the box's for a CCW weapon. Large caliber, adj rear sight, ported barrel and slide, adj trigger, ramped barrel, 10 +1 capacity, G10 grips, thumb and grip safety. Skeletonized trigger, hammer. And that oh so sweet 45ACP round in a sub compact package. It is about the size of my M&P Shield with a fatter grip because it is a double stack.
I added mag finger extensions to the mags because your pinky just dangled under the grip, their are no aftermarket parts available yet so I used XDM extensions and modified them to fit, looks factory. I also have a Para Ordinance P-10 13 round magazine that I modified to work for a total of 13 +1 rounds of man stopping thump power. That to me is absolutely amazing for a sub compact carry weapon in 45ACP. Abide the gun is on the heavy side weighing in at over 2 lbs, I ordered a nice shoulder rig to carry it along with two spare mags.
I have a Hogue rubber grips for it that will need to be modified to fit, they are for the Para Warthog originally but I don't know yet if I am going to change out the grips, I like the ones on it if they work well keeping this hand cannon in check.
