Need Help with Hornady Full Length Die
Posted by: gkf - 07-20-2021, 05:48 PM - Forum: 6mmARC Ammunition and Reloading - Replies (23)

I have never used Hornady dies (I admit I am a Redding fanboy), but it was my only alternative for 6mm ARC.

My problem is that while the die is sizing the shoulder perfectly, it seems it is barely touching the neck.  The neck
tension is way too loose and many of the case mouths aren't close to being round.

On my Redding dies, I can feel the expander ball working, but this Hornady die I don't feel the expander ball at all.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thank you.

FOR SALE - Uintah Precision 6mm ARC UPR15 Upper
Posted by: skyrep - 07-20-2021, 02:29 PM - Forum: 6mmARC Buy, Sell, or Trade - Replies (4)

22” Barrel, 1-7.5 twist with 15” M-LOK handguard.  $850.00 Shipped to your door.

Barrel has just over 750 rounds down it.  Most of the rounds were to test velocities of the Hornady commercial ammo, to acquire once fired brass and some load development.

I’m selling it due to not shooting it anymore - I built a Savage 10 Bolt Action in 6mm ARC and it’s now my primary rifle in the 6mm ARC.

  Another Newbie from Ohio
Posted by: tlbaker - 07-19-2021, 05:06 PM - Forum: Welcome New Members - Replies (6)

    Hello All,

I recently finished an AR build in 6mm ARC and found this site while searching for loading data.  Rifle configuration is as follows:
Anderson upper, lower, and parts kits
TriggerTech trigger
Brownell's mil-spec BCG and charging handle
MagPul PRS stock and JP Enterprises SCS
Compass Lake 24" bbl - rifle length +2 gas tube - matched bolt - VG6 Gamma 762 muzzle brake
Superlative Arms adjustable gas block
BCM 17" hand guard
Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 F1 and mount

Now all I need to do is work the bugs out and learn how to use it.  I shot Hornady 108gr ELD Match ammo three times using the labradar averaging 2770, 2783, and 2752 fps.

Terry

  7.62x39 bullets for trade
Posted by: grayfox - 07-17-2021, 11:47 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous Buy, Sell, or Trade - No Replies

I have about 300 pulled, 7.62x39 style fmj bullets for trade.
The sample I measured came in at 121-123 grs, and 0.310-0.311" diameter.
So I'm concluding they are probably 7.62x39's.
Most are a BT, some are FB.
The bases are pretty much open lead, from the ones I sampled.

Looking to trade for bullets I can use, like:
in 6mm ARC/6CM: 90-103 gr sierra's, hornady's or nosler/bergers. Primarily plastic or OTM tips.
in 6.5mm: any grendels 90-123 gr
in 6.5 Creed, 125-130's or hornady's 143 eldx.
in 308, would really like some 110 Ttsx, 125 gr hunting (Sierra tgk, hornady sst), or 150 tipped boat tails like Nosler or Hornady.

I mention these b/c I already know they shoot well in the pipes I have.

I'm hoping mostly weight for weight as close as possible, so shipping should be ~equal, each pays their own shipping, most likely usps flat rate box (Make sure to wrap them well - usps is tough on heavier boxes).

PM me with any proposed swaps.

Anyway, let's try to make a deal! Thanks.

  112 Match Burners
Posted by: Thelaststraw - 07-15-2021, 12:27 AM - Forum: 6mmARC Ammunition and Reloading - Replies (6)

Anyone here try Barnes 112 Match Burners or have any opinions of them? I have a few I'm gonna play with but figured I would see if anyone had any experience with them. They are LONG and sleek and I've heard they really like to jump big...also heard otherwise. I guess it's one of those things that depends on barrel, load, yada yada yada. They remind me of VLDs with their profile. Hopefully I can get out next week and do some guinea pig tests on them and make something happen.

Hey Everyone! Any run SMK 107s yet? Just curious. Getting ready to test with LVR. Seems as it might be in the sweet spot for the ARC at 107gr.

  6mm ARC & Monolithic's
Posted by: CZ527 Guy - 07-11-2021, 09:36 PM - Forum: 6mmARC Ammunition and Reloading - Replies (22)

How long do you suppose the 6mm ARC will be waiting on a factory monolithic load?

I intend to hunt Whitetail deer this fall with the 6mmARC in a bolt action & am heavily considering loading an 80 gr GMX for this purpose. Expect to start load development next week.

Personally I would not consider using the 80 gr GMX at lower velocities experienced with 16" and shorter barrels.

  BSF Carbon fiber wrapped barrels
Posted by: Shoreglide - 07-09-2021, 06:38 PM - Forum: 6mmARC Deals, Information, New Products - Replies (8)

Has anyone here ever used their products? I have a chance to grab a new 18” 6mm ARC barrel for a(relatively) nice price, but it’s still a big chunk to spend. At 25+/- oz, it is enticing. Are they truly a premium product?
